Revealing the new Lingotto Shopping Centre in Turin, Italy
Wednesday 21st October marked an important date for Turin: the new Lingotto Shopping Centre re-opened for trading in a former FIAT car factory following a refurbishment and extension project in excess of €20 million, which generated around 7,400 sqm of additional retail space to give a total of 30,013 sqm of retail GLA.
The refurbished and extended centre, originally made famous by the Minis racing round its rooftop racetrack in the 1969 film, The Italian Job, re-opened 94% leased*, with new anchor stores Coin, OVS, Game 7, DM Drogerie Markt, Arcaplanet, Conad and JD Sport joining existing anchors MediaWorld, Panorama and Juice (an Apple reseller).
There is lots going on at the centre, with the new electric Fiat Cinquecento launched on the famous Lingotto rooftop racetrack the following day, and the environment and sustainability conscious Green Pea Restaurant and Spa due to open at the beginning of December opposite the centre next to the original Eataly restaurant.
Roberto Limetti, Managing Director, Pradera Limited, comments “We are delighted and proud to have been chosen as operating and financial partners for this ambitious project, even more so given the current challenging circumstances. We are very much looking forward to continuing our work with the same enthusiasm and determination over the next few months.”
Notes:
* The figure of 94% refers to the whole centre and not just to the 8,000 sqm extension. The figure includes retailers either committed or with negotiations in progress to open at Lingotto as at 21 October 2020.
