Pradera signs 523 new leases and lease renewals in 2020

Despite a challenging retail environment and extensive lockdowns resulting from Covid-19, Pradera signed 523 new lettings and lease renewals on 235,000 sqm GLA in the 12 months to 31 December 2020.  By way of comparison, Pradera signed 580 new lettings and lease renewals on a much lower GLA of 175,500 sqm in 2019.

Of the 2020 signings, 368 were in Europe on 204,000 sqm and 155 were in China on 31,000 sqm.  Again, by way of comparison, in 2019 Pradera signed 315 new lettings and lease renewals in Europe on 106,500 sqm or just over half the 2020 leased area, and 265 in China on 69,000 sqm or more than twice the 2020 leased area.

The variations in sqm and number of leases signed are driven by the availability of space to lease or renew and by unit sizes.  They are not an indicator of changes in demand  for space.

Overall, including planned vacancies and space in the process of being repositioned, Pradera’s portfolio was 92% leased at the end of 2020 compared to 93% leased at the end of 2019.  It would appear from these occupancy rates that Covid-19 and related lockdowns did not have any meaningful effect on Pradera’s ability to lease or renew retail space.

These good results in uncertain times would not have been possible without Pradera‘s strong teams and retailer relationships in each of the 11 countries included in these statistics.
