Pradera Retail Asia to welcome Asia’s first Dungeon attraction to Mosaic Shanghai

Retail asset management specialist Pradera Retail Asia, the asset manager of Mosaic Shanghai, delivers a warm welcome for the introduction of The Shanghai Dungeon at Mosaic Shanghai. A groundbreaking ceremony was held today, marking the first public debut of the ‘Dungeon’ attraction in Asia. The Shanghai attraction will take visitors back in time for a multi-sensory experience of Shanghai’s colorful past. The introduction of the Dungeon attraction reinforces Pradera Retail Asia’s commitment to providing unique shopping, leisure and F&B destinations for young fashion millennials.

Run by leading global entertainment company Merlin Entertainments Group, The Shanghai Dungeon, the first ‘Dungeon’ of its kind in Asia and the tenth around the globe, is set to officially open in autumn 2018 at Mosaic Shanghai. The new Shanghai attraction will be the fourth Merlin has opened in the city, and will complement the existing Madame Tussauds, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and Changfeng Ocean World. Merlin chose Mosaic Shanghai as the ideal location for its first Dungeon attraction because of the mall’s location on the most popular pedestrian street in Shanghai as well as its unique brand positioning to millennials. Representing ‘mixing, meeting and entertaining’, Mosaic Shanghai is aimed to become one of the leading fashionable and entertainment malls on the East Nanjing Road.

Developed by teams from both the UK and China, The Shanghai Dungeon will introduce 10 authentic and atmospheric themed sets that combine elements of theatrical immersion and special effects, taking visitors on an entertaining and thrilling journey. As the first flagship store of the ‘Dungeon’ attraction in Asia, the Shanghai equivalent will feature cutting-edge technology, themed sets with rich contents, and a thrilling drop ride as the grand finale. Already a recognized landmark in London and several other cities around the globe, The Shanghai Dungeon is set to become an important destination on Shanghai’s Entertainment and Leisure map.

Rhys Evans, Head of Asset Management at Pradera Retail Asia said: “We are very excited to welcome the first Dungeon attraction in Asia to be situated at Mosaic Shanghai. Supported by the world’s leading family entertainment brand, The Shanghai Dungeon attraction is set to provide a unique, entertaining and thrilling experience for visitors and tourists from all over Shanghai, China and the world. This is also a further step towards our aim of establishing Mosaic Shanghai as the most desirable destination for millennials with state-of-the-art entertainment and leisure options.”

Mr. Evans added: “Pradera Retail Asia has been conducting a series of enhancement initiatives at Mosaic Shanghai to elevate its shopping mix and offerings, catering to the demands of young fashion millennials. The introduction of the Dungeon attraction highlights Pradera Retail Asia’s capability in bringing in the world’s leading brands. A rich array of major projects will roll out throughout the year, leveraging our experience in global retail asset management.”

Mosaic Shanghai is located on the busiest pedestrian street in the city, positioned next to three subway exits, with Metro Line 2 and 10 available. The project has a total construction area of 40,270 square meters and seven floors covering a wide variety of businesses, including dining, fashion and entertainment. Mosaic Shanghai is well positioned to become a unique and leading shopping, leisure and F&B destinations for young fashion millennials. M-Square, a themed area within Mosaic Shanghai, has been launched at the end of January, providing a unique collection of niche beauty and lifestyle offerings. In April 2018, the first Asian flagship store of internationally well-known sports casual brand FILA will upgrade its store and re-open in summer 2018.

Established in September 2016, Pradera Retail Asia has leveraged its experience in global retail asset management to provide integrated, best in class asset management services in Asia. Mosaic Shanghai is one of the four retail properties Pradera Retail Asia currently manages in China, with the other three located in Chongqing, Qingdao, and Xi’an.
