PRADERA RETAIL ASIA NAMES CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR ITS CHINA BUSINESS

Pradera, the specialist international retail real estate fund and asset manager, today announced the appointment of experienced real estate executive, Alison Rehill-Erguven, as Chief Executive of Pradera Retail Asia’s China business. In the role, Alison will facilitate Pradera Retail Asia’s ambitious growth plans in China, providing leadership to its rapidly expanding team of more than 130 people, and implementing strategies to unlock the value of four Mosaic retail assets the business manages in China.

David Fletcher, Chief Executive of Pradera, commented: “Our ambition is to grow Pradera Retail Asia’s platform within China, and to expand it into the wider Asia Pacific region in the future. Alison is perfectly placed to deliver this vision in China, with proven asset management expertise, strong leadership skills and an outstanding commitment to client service. We are dedicated to providing clients with best in class fund and asset management services, and Alison’s appointment to Chief Executive of our China team is testament to this.”

Alison has over 18 years’ experience in retail real estate and joined Pradera in 2010 from US- based firm General Growth Properties. During her time at Pradera she has overseen the asset management of Istanbul Cevahir, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres that Pradera manages on behalf of St Martins Management Corporation, where she led the team to successfully reconfigure and reposition the asset.  She has also overseen the Central and Eastern European business, along with the Turkish business, and will remain the Chairman of Turkey alongside her new responsibilities. Alison is currently Head of Sustainability for the company, has been a board member since 2015 and has recently relocated to Shanghai.

Pradera Retail Asia, the joint venture between Pradera and Macquarie Retail Real Estate Management Limited, a subsidiary of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), was launched last September.

Andrew Taylor, Senior Managing Director and Asia Head of Real Estate for MIRA, said: “This is an exciting time for Pradera Retail Asia and we are delighted to have Alison as Chief Executive of China. Her extensive experience across Pradera’s businesses will stand her in good stead to drive the future growth of the China operations.”

In August, the joint venture executed a lease agreement with Merlin Entertainments plc (‘Merlin’), the leading global visitor attractions company, to open THE SHANGHAI DUNGEON within Mosaic Shanghai, where it is the asset manager. THE SHANGHAI DUNGEON attraction, the first of its kind in Asia, is due to open in late summer 2018.

Earlier this year, Pradera Retail Asia also added a fourth retail property in China – Mosaic Chongqing Metro Park – to assets already managed in Qingdao, Xi’an and Shanghai, with a total gross leasable area (GLA) of 200,000 sqm. This increasingly global perspective sees Pradera sharing best practice to further improve performance and returns in a €3.3 billion portfolio that now includes 58 shopping centres and retail parks worldwide.
