Mosaic Qingdao Welcomes Opening of the First Eartharbor Store in Qingdao

Mosaic Qingdao has recently welcomed the opening of Eartharbor, the first “new retail” gourmet grocery supermarket in Qingdao. Eartharbor, which innovatively combines boutique supermarket, specialty restaurants and IP concept, joins an expanding list of retailers merging online and offline experiences as people shift to quality-oriented purchases and experience-based consumption. Mosaic Qingdao is one of the four retail properties Pradera Retail Asia currently manages in China, positioned as a one-stop, convenient and vibrant community center that meets the needs of family members of all ages through a unique collection of leisure, entertainment, dining, and education offerings.

The Mosaic Eartharbor store, the first in Qingdao, opened at the beginning of March, covering close to 2,000sqm. Eartharbor fully integrates a boutique supermarket and specialty restaurants, coupled with cutting-edge technology in an innovative setting, to provide the ultimate shopping experience for consumers. The Eartharbor store assembles tens of thousands of premium ingredients from 108 countries around the world and offers 30-minute delivery for consumers within a three kilometer radius, satisfying their demands for fresh food, fine dining, and leisure. It is worth highlighting that Eartharbor is the first of its kind in Shandong province to introduce the blend of catering and supermarket business through a unichannel online-to-offline (O2O) experience, and operates a global logistics network delivering premium products, leading the local retail market to the next level.

New retail concept stores such as Eartharbor in which technology and data are used to merge online and offline shopping have been gaining ever-increasing popularity among customers.  With the rise of the experience economy across the globe, brick-and-mortar retailers have further ramped up efforts to embrace this growing trend of O2O integration.

Rhys Evans, Head of Asset Management at Pradera Retail Asia, said: “We are thrilled with the opening of the first Eartharbor store in Qingdao, which will certainly add value to our consumers’ shopping experience. Consumers’ spending patterns and affinity for O2O platforms have triggered growing needs for quality products and more convenient services. The opening of Eartharbor is a further step toward our aim of building Mosaic Qingdao as a leading one-stop community shopping center.”

Mosaic Qingdao has been conducting a series of enhancement initiatives to elevate its shopping mix and offerings so as to better serve the nearby communities. Currently, adjustments have been completed to select catering, lifestyle and children brands, including: the first Golden Hans store relaunched in Qingdao after its brand upgrade, and the only themed restaurant with Brazilian barbecue and beer in the Shibei District; the first one-stop, parent-child themed Kidswant store in Shibei District covering food, toys, apparel, entertainment, and education.

At the beginning of the second quarter of 2018, Mosaic Qingdao is expecting the opening of a Huawei Store and a Gymboree, both first in the Shibei District in Qingdao. In addition, the shopping center will upgrade its existing entertainment business by introducing new forms of leisure and entertainment.

Located on Renmin Road, Shibei District and soon to be connected to Metro Line 1, Mosaic Qingdao is the only commercial real estate project situated atop the subway station in the district. The shopping center has a total construction area of 73,000 square meters and five floors with a collection of well-known brands covering a rich variety of businesses – such as fashion products, parent-child facilities, fitness and food – that serve the 450,000 nearby residents. Mosaic Qingdao is well positioned to become a one-stop, integrated community center that offers leisure, entertainment, dining, and education for consumers both in Shibei District and in the city.

Alison Rehill-Erguven, CEO of Pradera Retail Asia, added: “We are excited with the opening of Eartharborand and the upcoming retailers that will be introduced to Mosaic Qingdao and the Shibei District.  These ‘first to market’ retailers highlight our strong leasing capability and our focus on elevating the customer experience. By combining our network and skills in Europe with our strong and experienced team in China, Pradera Retail Asia, is committed to long-term growth in China and developing more vibrant, entertainment-led city landmarks.”

Established in September 2016, Pradera Retail Asia has leveraged its profound experience in global retail asset investment and management to provide integrated, best in class asset management services in Asia. Mosaic Qingdao is one of the four retail properties Pradera Retail Asia currently manages in China, with the other three located in Shanghai, Chongqing and Xi’an.
