Rebound in UK investments

Europe posted a strong second quarter with over €74bn in investments. This brings the total for H1 2017 to €130bn, which represents an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2016. The strong performance was to a large extent driven by an upturn in trading activity in the UK. After a relatively calm first quarter, volumes picked up substantially and reached almost €23.5bn in Q2. Germany, the driving force behind investment growth in continental Europe, posted another quarter of robust growth rates and investments increased by 49% compared to H1 2016. In France, the results for the first half of 2017 were somewhat muted, however, the election of Macron as president will likely have a positive impact on occupier and investment markets, with a strong pipeline going into H2. Southern European markets as Italy and Spain are seeing strong investment activity as well as the Netherlands.
